Dr. Richard Sánchez is an internationally recognized healthcare executive with deep expertise in managed care operations and health policy. As Medical Director at SameDayAbortionPills, he provides clinical leadership and strategic oversight. He has over two decades of experience guiding national healthcare organizations and assessing emerging technologies and pharmacy innovations to inform payer coverage policies.

Throughout his career, Dr. Sánchez has held senior leadership positions at AltaMed, Community Health Plan of Washington, Family Health Plan of Chicago, AlohaCare, UCare of Minnesota, Health Integrated, Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina, McKesson, Iasis Healthcare, Steward Health Choice, and AxisPoint.

Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer at Molina Healthcare and Health Choice, where he oversaw medical affairs, clinical programs, pharmacy, and quality initiatives nationwide. He has also served as Chief Medical Officer at Molina Healthcare of California and Utah, Mercy Care Plan (Schaller Anderson), Coventry Health Care, Humana, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of New York. In addition, he was Public Health Commissioner for the City and County of San Francisco for eight years.

Dr. Sánchez earned his medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco, completed a pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, and received his Master of Public Health from the University of California, Berkeley.
